Outstanding Achievement in Research Award
This award honors faculty for outstanding achievements in research, scholarship or creative activities.
Criteria for Selection
- Contributes to a positive culture within in their unit
Nominees should meet one or more of the following criteria:
- A significant research or theoretical paper published in a major professional journal, a major book or its equivalent
- A major consultancy, grant or commission
- An important patent or invention
- The extent of collaborative involvement in the contribution by colleagues and/or students
- Evidence of positive impact of contributions on a field of research, discipline, interdisciplinary scholarship or society
- Evidence of contributions that enhance the mission of the academic unit and WVU Health Sciences (e.g., attracting new faculty, graduate students, visiting professors; enhanced educational opportunities; etc.)
Required Materials in Support of Nomination
- Abridged CV, with relevant research details (five-page limit)
- Publications or other examples of the outcomes of the research, including full citations and relevant links
- Description of the extent of collaborative involvement in the research by colleagues or students must be included
- Publications and examples must be able to be independently verified by the award committee
- A letter of support from colleagues external to WVU
- At least one example of how the nominee meets the criterion "contributes to a positive culture within their unit"
Suggested Materials in Support of Nomination
- A maximum of two additional letters of support from colleagues either internal or external to WVU
