Wellbeing for School of Medicine Physician Faculty
Welcome to the Wellbeing Resources Page for WVUH Physicians. WVU is committed to improve clinician wellbeing through all the domains of wellness. Both system-wide and individual hospital resources are available.
Our wellbeing model
Our conceptualization of wellbeing is guided by the Stanford Model of Occupational Wellbeing™. This model illustrates the importance of both the work environment and personal practice in the concept of professional fulfillment – “wellness” is far more than pizza and yoga!
Our program
Our wellbeing program is lead by Dr. Cara Sedney, Chief Wellness Officer of WVU Hospitals. Wellbeing is supported through foundational programs supporting physicians, routine surveys of faculty, bidirectional communication between faculty and leadership, and a Physician Wellness Committee. A couple achievements to highlight include the AMA Joy in Medicine Certification achieved 2025-2027 and a wellbeing mini-grant program funded by a joint WVU and WVU Hospitals commitment of $100,000 dedicated to physician wellbeing. Contact Dr. Sedney for details on these programs or for a grant application or for any details about the resources below.
