Interprofessional Education (IPE) Scholar Position
Description
The West Virginia University Health Sciences Center Office of Academic Affair is seeking applications for an Interprofessional Education (IPE) Scholar. This faculty appointment is designed for clinical faculty with a strong interest in collaborative practice, interprofessional education, educational scholarship, and healthcare innovation.
The IPE Scholar will serve as a faculty partner within the Office of IPE, helping to advance collaborative, practice-ready healthcare education across disciplines and clinical settings. Working closely with the Office of IPE leadership team, the scholar will contribute to educational programming, mentorship initiatives, scholarship, faculty development activities, and the expansion of clinically relevant interprofessional learning experiences.
Eligibility
Full-time faculty members engaged in clinical education, from the West Virginia University Health Sciences Center and other academic units that contribute to IPE initiatives are eligible to apply. Applicants should demonstrate active involvement in teaching, clinical practice, educational leadership, collaborative care, community service, and/or related interprofessional activities.
Selection Criteria and Process
Applicants will be evaluated based upon:
- Demonstrated interest in interprofessional education including participation in clinical collaborative practice
- Strong communication, facilitation, and mentorship skills
- Ability to work effectively across disciplines and professional cultures
- Interest in educational scholarship, program evaluation, and/or faculty development
- Record of leadership, innovation, and/or service within their profession
A selection committee of representatives from HSC Academic Affairs will review applications, interview selected applicants, and advise the Director of Interprofessional Education and the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs of their preferences for the successful candidate
Compensation
Health Sciences Interprofessional Education will provide up to 0.20 FTE support of salary
Position Responsibilities
- The IPE Scholar will contribute to the following core areas of IPE engagement activities:
- Support the development and implementation of clinically relevant experiences within IPE programming.
- Mentor Student Innovation Challenge teams and support student-led interprofessional initiatives.
- Collaborate on interprofessional education research, program evaluation, and scholarly projects.
- Participate in scholarly dissemination activities, including presentations, posters, workshops, educational resources, and manuscripts.
- Identify and strengthen partnerships between the Office of IPE, healthcare teams, and clinical learning environments.
- Assist in expanding authentic, practice-based interprofessional learning opportunities for learners.
- Support Office of IPE educational activities, including IPE 101, IPE IDEAS, IPE Project DOCC, the IPE Poverty Simulation, and other interprofessional learning experiences.

- Letter of interest describing experience in interprofessional education, collaborative practice, and goals for participation as the IPE Scholar
- Letter of support from department chair or immediate supervisor acknowledging protected time commitment.
