WVU in the News: Walk for breast cancer awareness
People were at Mountaineer Field and wearing their pink bright and early today for the annual breast cancer walk. The event was held in memory of the late Betty Puskar, who passed away in 2020. Puskar was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1985 and sought treatment in Houston.

Experts at the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI) will use a diagnostic test developed by Abbott in collaboration with the Department of War to help assess mild traumatic brain injury and concussion in patients ranging from first responders, domestic violence survivors, athletes, and others.
WVU School of Pharmacy Dean’s Hour Panel to Spotlight Leadership Across the Profession
The West Virginia University School of Pharmacy will present a special Dean’s Hour event titled “Pharmacy Pathways — Leadership Across the Profession” on Friday, October. 24, from Noon to 1 p.m. in the Okey Patteson Auditorium. Hosted by the WVU Chapter of the American Pharmacists Association–Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), the panel will explore the many ways pharmacists lead across diverse sectors of the profession — from health systems and industry to community care and innovation.

Immunology and microbial pathogenesis Ph.D. candidate recognized at AACR special conference
Angisha Basnet, a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis Program at West Virginia University, was selected as a speaker for the plenary session at the AACR Special Conference in Cancer Research: Advances in Pancreatic Cancer Research—Emerging Science Driving Transformative Solutions, held from Sept. 28 to Oct. 1 in Boston, Massachusetts.
