MARPHTC Webinar Series: Roots of Health Disparities

June 22 (Part 1) and June 29 (Part 2), 11 a.m. to Noon, ET

Perfect health care will make everyone healthy, right? Nope. Yes, affordable, equally accessible, excellent health services ARE essential.

But we must dig deeper. Down to the roots.

Why are certain health problems more likely in disadvantaged groups? We need to consider factors below the surface—factors that underlie health issues before a patient ever shows up at a clinic.

Gain a deeper understanding of how variability in education, social attitudes, neighborhoods (and much more!) impact human health. You won’t want to miss this two-part webinar.

This two-part series explores concepts such as the social determinants of health and cultural competency, compares health disparities to health care disparities, and examines the consequences of these issues to society. Also discussed are ways to promote cultural diversity and approaches to reduce health disparities.

At the conclusion of this webinar series, participants will be able to:

Basic functionality, including the use of a feature to type in questions, will be reviewed during the training. We suggest using a headset or webcam with microphone to best engage with the presenter throughout the training.
