CMS withdraws COVID-19 vaccination requirement
On June 5, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published a final rule in the Federal Register that withdraws COVID-19 vaccination mandates for all healthcare provider types. This final rule becomes effective Friday, Aug. 4.
As a result of this change, WVU Medicine employees, including new hires, are no longer required to receive a COVID-19 vaccine; however, vaccination is still encouraged. COVID-19 vaccines are a safe and effective defense against the virus.
