Vice dean role will expand administrative leadership within dental school

Dr. Fotinos Panagakos takes on additional responsibilities

Dr. Fotinos Panagakos is the dental school's vice dean. MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Fotinos Panagakos, DMD, PhD, MA, MBA, associate dean of research at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry, has been named the dental school’s vice dean for administration and research. Dr. Panagakos will continue to fulfill the duties of his current role and will assume additional responsibilities in the newly announced position.

Panagakos will work closely with Anthony ‘Tom’ Borgia, DDS, MHA, dean of the School of Dentistry, by facilitating and increasing collaboration in the core activities of the school.

As part of senior leadership, Panagakos will expand his focus of leading research efforts to include development, budget and finances, clinical operations and curriculum. The overarching goal of the role of the vice dean is to support the work of the dean in achieving success in all school programs.

Dr. Panagakos joined the dental school in August 2018. He is an experienced educator, private dental care practitioner and oral healthcare industry research expert.
