Health Sciences community invited to celebrate faculty, staff at Chancellor’s Awards ceremony
West Virginia University Health Sciences is recognizing individuals and teams with Chancellor’s Awards, for their significant contributions to its mission. A ceremony to honor the 2024-2025 award winners will be held Thursday, Oct. 2nd at 4 p.m. in the Pylons Commons.
Dr. Rahul Gupta to deliver keynote at WVU Global Health Week
Sponsored by West Virginia University Global Health Program, Health Sciences will host Dr. Rahul Gupta as the keynote speaker for Global Health Week 2025 at the event “Health Without Borders: Innovation, Access, and the Future of Global Health” on Monday, Oct. 6, at noon in Room 1905 of the Health Sciences Center North. A Zoom option will also be available.
Four WVU School of Nursing faculty members selected as Writer’s Camp Counselors
Four WVU School of Nursing faculty members have been selected as counselors for Writer’s Camp, an online resource that supports nurses in writing, editing and publishing. The counselors are Dr. Brad Phillips, Dr. Roger Carpenter, Dr. Heather Carter-Templeton and Dr. Suzy Walter.

WVU faculty member develops course for national dentistry journal
Just three elements – melody, harmony, and rhythm – can bring a person comfort. For a child who is experiencing anxiety in a dental clinic, music can make all the difference for positive oral health outcomes. To help clinicians incorporate music therapy into their practices, West Virginia University School of Dentistry faculty member Elizabeth Southern Puette, RDH, MSDH, developed a continuing education course for Dimensions of Dental Hygiene focusing on music therapy for pediatric patients.

WVU in the News: Marsh says risk with acetaminophen is low according to data
West Virginia University Health Sciences Dean said the assumption of a link between autism and acetaminophen isn’t pulled out of thin air. Speaking on MetroNews Talkline Tuesday, Dr. Clay Marsh said there was some limited research which suggested the possibility of a link between the two.
