Mental Health First Aid now available
Mental Health First Aid teaches participants to apply skills that include assessing for suicide or harm, listening non-judgmentally, giving reassurance and information, and encouraging professional help and self-help strategies. The information will be presented by WVU’s certified instructors in a variety of formats, including virtual, blended and in-person as pandemic protocols allow. Contact the Office of Health Promotion and Wellness for additional information.
Health Sciences students invited to participate in COVID-19 research project
Health Sciences students are being invited to participate in a research project to assess the impact of COVID-19 on health and wellness. This project is being conducted by Angela Goodhart, PharmD, and co-investigators at the WVU Health Science Center.

Registration open for HSC Workplace Survey conversation
As part of an HSC initiative focused on “COVID-19 Lessons Learned,” a survey was completed focused on HSC faculty and staff workplace design during the past year. In a follow up to the survey, we will hold an HSC conversation on Thursday, June 3 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. to share and discuss these data.
WVU updates mask wearing and out-of-state travel guidance for fully vaccinated individuals
WVU is lessening some restrictions around mask wearing and out-of-state travel for people who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and verified their vaccinations with the University.

Ophthalmology Grand Rounds: Two residents present separate cases on bilateral, unilateral vision loss
Drs. Michael Chang and Evan Field will be the presenters for the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Grand Rounds on Wednesday, May 26, at 7 a.m. Dr. Chang will be presenting a case of bilateral vision loss, and Dr. Field will be presenting a case of acute unilateral vision loss. The grand rounds presentation will be held over Zoom.
Two New Faculty Join The Department of Biochemistry
The department of Biochemistry is excited to announce it’s two new faculty members, Dr. Wen Tao Deng and Dr. Michael Robichaux! They joined the department at the end of March and are assistant professors in both the Department of Biochemistry and Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.
