WVU Health (2025)
Subpages #
There are two types of subpages available under the WVU Health website: Subpage and Extended Subpage. The Extended Subpage allows for a more dynamic and engaging layout with additional editor tools, expanded layout sections, and support for rich media. The Subpage is a straightforward content page with a single rich text editor for adding and formatting copy and images.
Keep in mind that proper content structuring and formatting remain important for clarity and readability.
Choosing Media #
Choose high-quality, in-the-moment photos from a WVU photo gallery. Avoid using headshots, group photos, aerial photos, and smartphone photos.
Below are a few great galleries that we've stumbled across:
- WVU Photos - School of Pharmacy View book September 2022
- WVU Photos - Mini-cultural Fest October 2022
- WVU Med School - Campus Scenes
- WVU Health - Campus Shots
Ensuring Proper Aspect Ratio When Uploading Media #
Photos added to the homepage or an extended subpage often require a particular aspect ratio to fit within the layout. These images will be either a 4:3 or 3:2 aspect ratio.
The description with each image field throughout will designate which aspect ratio is to be used.
Due to the limitations of the single-page editor in Umbraco 7, images need to be added to the media library and cropped to the correct aspect ratio before the images can be selected to be used in a page.
Uploading media at the proper aspect ratio #
- In Umbraco, navigate to the "Health 2024" folder in the media library.
- Click the "Create" button at the top and choose either "Image Cropper 3:2" or "Image Cropper 4:3".
- Name the media according to the naming convention guidelines. You may want to include the aspect ratio in the name to make finding the image easier when choosing an image.
- Drag the desired image into the dashed area or choose "Click to upload" to add the image to the cropper.
- Adjust the crop to frame the subject of the image.
- Click "Save".
