Ruby phone system will experience outage for 30 minutes early Friday morning
The Ruby Campus Phone System will experience a 30-minute downtime on Friday, Nov. 3, from 1-1:30 a.m. to re-sync two phone system nodes and ensure continuity of service.
During this time, anyone who is on the newer phone system (black or grey phone sets, which also include SpectraLink phones) will not be able to receive or send calls. The backup phone system (the older white phone sets) will be online during this time.
The Incident Command Center will be open during this outage to ensure proper communication and coordination of resources in the event of an emergency during this outage.
During the outage, there will be WVU Medicine security guards in the lobby of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, in the emergency department, and in the Command Center who can contact Dispatch with their radios in case of an emergency.

Other departments with white phones will continue to function.
It is important to not disconnect the black or grey phone sets during the outage, even if they appear powered off, to avoid delays in the return to service of the individual devices.
