New WVUH organizational structure will support growth, align services
WVU Hospitals recently made several changes to its organizational structure, according to President and CEO Albert L. Wright. “These changes will support our growth and allow us to better align and coordinate departments and services,” he said. View the updated organizational chart.
Some of the highlights include:
- The role of Chief Experience Officer is being expanded to a full-time position. Todd Crocco, M.D., will oversee Human Resources and Quality and Patient Safety. With a focus on people and quality, he will help WVU Healthcare continue on its journey to become a better place for employees to work, physicians to practice medicine and patients to receive care. Dr. Crocco will continue to serve as chair of Emergency Medicine while a transition plan is developed.
- A second vice president of operations has been hired. Amy L Bush, B.S.N., M.B.A., R.N., comes to WVU Healthcare from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-McKeesport, where she held a similar position. Bush will be responsible for the development and execution of operational strategies related to surgical and cancer services, clinical program development and Environmental Services. Her first day is Monday, Feb. 2.
- A vice president of healthcare integration will soon be hired. Interviews are set to begin in late January or early February. This leader will be responsible for building and maintaining external relationships with non-WVU providers, healthcare organizations and post-acute care facilities.
- Recruitment for a vice president of operations – women/children will begin soon. This leader will focus on growing the organization’s service line around women and children and WVU Children’s Hospital.
- Recruitment for a chief operating officer will commence this summer. This leader will oversee the organization’s day-to-day operations.
- The chief nursing officer will work closely with leaders at WVUH’s non-Morgantown facilities. Dottie Oakes will help to better integrate WVUH’s Morgantown operations with those at University Healthcare (Berkeley Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center) and Potomac Valley Hospital.
“We need to continually take a fresh look at how we approach the work that we do – in all areas of the organization,” Wright added. “I am confident that these changes will strengthen our organization and, ultimately, benefit our patients.”
