WVU Public Health Dialogues spring schedule announced
Downtown campus event planned for January
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University School of Public Health Office of Public Health Practice and Workforce Development will host four speaker sessions of its Public Health Dialogues during the spring semester.
Unless otherwise noted, the sessions will be held at the WVU Health Sciences Center in room 1905. Doors open at noon, and speakers will begin at 12:15 p.m.

Claire Renzetti, Ph.D., currently serves as the Judi Conway Patton Endowed Chair in the University of Kentucky (UK) Center for Research on Violence Against Women. She also serves as professor and chair in the UK Department of Sociology. She will present “Better a Patient Man than a Warrior: Religiosity, Religious Self-regulation and Men’s Perpetration of Intimate Partner Violence.” Dr. Renzetti’s presentation is co-sponsored by the WVU Eberly College of Arts and Sciences Department of Sociology and Anthropology’s Mary L. Thomas Lecture Series. Danielle Davidov, Ph.D., assistant professor in the WVU Department of Emergency Medicine and WVU Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, will serve as moderator.
February 6
Okey Patteson Auditorium in the WVU Health Sciences Center
Robert Duval, Ph.D., interim chair of the WVU Department of Health Policy, Management, and Leadership, will moderate a panel discussion on climate change and population health. The panel will include: Heather Basara, Ph.D., assistant professor in the WVU Department of Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences; Yong-Lak Park, Ph.D., assistant professor of entomology in the WVU Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Design Division of Plant and Soil Sciences; and Brent McCusker, Ph.D., associate professor and associate chair of geography in the WVU Eberly College of Arts and Sciences.
March 6
Jennifer Selin, mayor of Morgantown, will present “Creating a Healthy Community in the Heart of Appalachia.”
April 10
Bruce Seifer, author of “Sustainable Communities: Creating a Durable Local Economy,” will present “Economic Development and Population Health.” Tom Bias, Ph.D., assistant professor in the WVU Department of Health Policy, Management, and Leadership, will serve as moderator.
The Public Health Dialogues Speaker Series is free and open to the public.
