Inspirational Stories

Some of us were called to nursing from as early as we can remember, just like I was. Others are called to nursing later in life. And in serendipitous moments, like Greta's lifeguarding experience, we know we have selected the perfect path for ourselves.

Greta's story is a testament to the power of education, training and skill. As nursing students, you are being equipped with lifesaving tools that will prepare you both as you enter the workforce and as you encounter emergency situations.

Helping others is a part of who we are as nurses, and it is always important to reflect on the difference we can make in lives every day — both in big ways and small.

Dr. Stacy Huber & Dr. Brad Phillips

Associate Dean of Curriculum & Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs

Hello and Happy Spring!

As we near the end of the semester, it would seem that we should be winding down. However, with final exams, final papers, and end-of-the semester projects, this if oftentimes the busiest time of the year.

Completing end-of-the-semester course evaluations (eSEI) and clinical evaluations (SECEE) also add to the list of things to complete. However, the quantitative results along with your constructive comments relaying your thoughts and concerns are an integral part of improving courses and ultimately our programs.

The results, comments, and suggestions from the SECEE surveys (undergraduate) and eSEI’s (all programs) are sent directly to the instructor, teaching team, or clinical instructor who then review this data carefully when making decisions on future course offerings. Please be assured, the results of the surveys are completely anonymous. Instructors received the results after final grades are posted. Unfortunately, we have recently seen a decline in the number of end-of-the-semester survey responses.

We clearly understand that you have numerous surveys to complete at the end of the semester and this can lead to burnout. However, it is important to complete the surveys! Many positive changes have been made and will continue to be made based on your eSEI and/or SECEE survey results and constructive comments. Please take just a few moments to provide your feedback!

Your opinion matters! We can only improve if you tell us how!

-Dr. Huber & Dr. Phillips
