Panel discussion to focus on heart health and Black History Month

Monday, Feb. 27 | 7 p.m. | Shenandoah Room, Mountainlair

West Virginia University’s newly-formed Leadership, Engagement, Achievement, and Development group (LEAD) invites the campus and local community to a panel discussion Monday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Mountainlair Shenandoah Room.

In recognition of American Heart Month and Black History Month, the discussion will focus on the importance of heart health and promoting diversity. African Americans are at an increased risk for heart disease.

Panelists for the event include Dr. Latoya Linton-Frazier, a clinical cardiac electrophysiologist at Indiana Regional Medical Center and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; Kisstaman Epps, program coordinator for the NASA West Virginia Space Grant Consortium and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; Anitra Hamilton, vice chair of the WVU Council for Gender Equity and president of NAACP Morgantown/Kingwood; Olivia Lohman, a fourth-year medical student and member of the WVU Student National Medical Association; and Aryaunna Mosley, a Ph.D. student and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Coordination for the event was provided by the Health Sciences & Technology Academy (HSTA) Alumni Association, Minorities Association of Pre-healthcare Students (MAPS) and the Student Nurses’ Association.
