Hygienist has outstanding career in healthcare
Dawn Myers Yost is an outstanding WVU School of Dentistry alumnus. She was chosen to receive the award at the spring 2019 School of Dentistry Alumni Association event.
Dawn is a native of Markleysburg, Pennsylvania, but she has spent much of her life in the Mountain State. She entered the West Virginia University’s hygiene program in 1974 and graduated in 1978. Dawn has furthered her education and has degrees from Fairmont State College and the University of Texas at Arlington.
Shortly after graduation, Dawn became involved in the American Dental Hygienists’ Association. She has now been a member of the association for more than four decades.
Over the years, she has served as a speaker of the House of Delegates and Secretary of District II Dental Hygienists’ Association, and been the Legislative Chairman of the West Virginia Dental Hygienists' Association. She has also served as Secretary of the Monongahela Valley Dental Hygienists’ Association, been a delegate to the West Virginia Dental Hygienists' Association, and acted as a trustee to the West Virginia Dental Hygienists Association.
Dawn is an excellent public speaker who has presented lectures on infection control, sterilization, prion disease, and safety and health programs to multiple healthcare organizations.
Among her many awards, Dawn is the recipient of the Pat C. Jones Award (now the West Virginia Dental Hygienists’ leadership award) for her 20 years of leadership in the Association.
Dawn has also been extensively involved in research and has been involved with more than 25 publications during her career. Dawn is married to Stephen Yost.
