Tell us about your role within the SON.

I began teaching at WVU in 2015. When I first started, I taught in various courses in the undergraduate nursing program. I spent some time in NSG 312, NSG 412, NSG 212, NSG 211, and NSG 100. I found my home in NSG 311: Alterations in Adult Health I and NSG 360: Ethics and Healthcare Policy. You will find me in the clinical setting and classroom setting.

What do you love about being a nurse?

There are so many things that I love about being a nurse... it is hard to narrow down! There is never a dull moment. Each day brings new adventures. As a nurse, you have so many opportunities. We are able to work in a variety of settings and locations. I truly love to learn, and as a nurse, we are constantly learning. Above all else, I love the ability to connect with people and to have the ability to make a difference in someone’s life.

What do you love about teaching in the SON?

This one is easy — I love my coworkers and my students!

What do you enjoy most about working with students?

I love their fresh perspective and their “Ah Ha” moments when they finally understand a concept or competently perform a task. I also love the energy that they bring to clinical. It is amazing! They help me remember what I love so much about our profession.
