COVID-19 update topic of community seminar

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – WVU Medicine East and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Campus will sponsor an online community mini-medical school program on coronavirus.

The seminar titled COVID-19 Update will air on May 19 at 7 p.m. on the WVU Medicine East Facebook page. Matthew Simmons, M.D., infectious disease specialist with WVU Medicine East, will offer the latest information on COVID-19 as he continues to work closely with local, state and federal authorities to monitor the outbreak.

In addition, Dr. Simmons will offer advice on how to keep you and your family safe as West Virginia and surrounding states move to reopen. Social distancing, wearing a mask and frequent hand washing remain important routine practices.

The virtual mini-medical school program, to air on WVU Medicine East’s Facebook page, is being offered free to the public as a community services of WVU Medicine and the WVU Health Sciences Center. Closed caption will be offered for the hearing impaired.
