Class of 2024 - Brooke King
1) Why did you choose WVU?
I have lived in the beautiful state of West Virginia my entire life and I love it! From the beautiful rolling hills to the friendly people everywhere you go, West Virginia truly is wild and wonderful. To have such a well-known and recognized university within my home state is such a blessing. I chose West Virginia University because of the location and the academic goals I will be able to achieve.
2) What is your favorite activity?
I have many hobbies that I enjoy! My favorites would be drawing, painting, and playing tennis.
3) What is your favorite TV program, movie, and who is your favorite music artist?
My favorite TV program is Modern Family and my favorite movie is Fried Green Tomatoes. My favorite music artist is Lauren Daigle.
4) Who has been your greatest influence in your life, other than a family member, and why?
My greatest influence outside of my family members is Debbie Sisson, my high school art teacher. She was supportive in the classroom and instrumental in several art competitions I entered. Mrs. Sisson encouraged me to continue to pursue art in my college career, which I loved and has allowed me to advance my skills further. She continues to stay in touch and be supportive of my art explorations.
5) If you could be anyone, other than yourself, who would that be and why?
If I could be anyone other than myself, I would be someone who is musically inclined. I would choose this because I love listening to music and I think it would be great to be able to have skills in this area.
6) What are your biggest worries about coming to the WVU dental school this fall?
My greatest concern about attending WVU dental school is that it may be a challenge to meet the academic expectations I have set for myself.
7) How do you deal with stress?
I like to deal with stress from school by making a schedule and a checklist. I schedule intermittent periods of time for diving into my studies and taking breaks that include physical activity or drawing. I like including the checklist because I am able to feel accomplished even when just checking off my breaks, and it allows me to see how much I have accomplished.
8) If you could change the world, what would you do?
If I could change the world I would like to have everyone feel peace, love, and security. To feel peace one must feel at ease with who they are as a person and with their current circumstances. To feel love one must have fulfilling relationships with others. To feel security one must have stability in their life and finances. I think these three things would make the world a better place and allow everyone to be fulfilled.
