Choose your provider at the WVU School of Dentistry
A choice in oral healthcare
Through WVU Dental Care and WVU School of Dentistry patients can choose among multiple clinics and providers. Students, residents and faculty all see patients in separate clinics. *Both the student and resident clinics are teaching clinics.
Student Clinic
You will be treated by a WVU School of Dentistry dental or dental hygiene student who will be supervised by experienced faculty. From treatment planning to follow-up visits, expect thorough oral healthcare as your student dentist or hygienist has a mentor and monitor during every step of your process.
Fees vary but could be at a reduced rate.

Resident Clinic
A resident dentist is a provider who has already earned a dental degree. These dentists are attending WVU School of Dentistry for additional education in a specialty area of dentistry. With a faculty dentist’s guidance, a resident dentist may practice in the area of endodontics, orthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, periodontics and prosthodontics.
Fees vary but could be at a reduced rate.

Faculty Clinic
At the faculty clinic, a patient is seen by an experienced dentist who serves on the faculty of the School of Dentistry. They are general dentists and specialists who continue to see patients of their own while also teaching our student dentists and resident dentists. Treatment by a dental student is not provided through our faculty clinic.
Fees are comparable to those at private practices.

Initial Assessment Appointments

Plan to be at your initial assessment for 1 - 3 hours.

If you must cancel, 24-hour notice is required.

A screening fee will be collected before you are examined.
*Teaching Clinics
- The average appointment length is 3 hours.
- After 2 broken or cancelled appointments (appointments cancelled with less than 24-hour notice), you will not be considered for treatment in our student clinics.
- Patients who have an outstanding account balance will not be considerered for treatment in the student clinics.
- Payment is expected at the time of service.
