Community and Rural Rotations Support (CARRS) Program application now open

Are you a 3rd-year medical student, 4th-year dental or pharmacy student, or 2nd-year physician assistant student with a scheduled rural rotation? Could you use an extra $1,500* for school?

Check out the Community and Rural Rotations Support (CARRS) Program offered by the WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health.

The CARRS application process offers quarterly submission deadlines. All applications submitted by the deadlines will be reviewed and applicants contacted within one week.

Third-year medical students who already have their required 4-week rural family medicine clerkship rotation or 4-week rural track internal medicine rural rotation requested or scheduled in one of our CARRS counties can apply now.

Dental, pharmacy and physician assistant students who have rural rotations requested or scheduled in one of our CARRS counties can apply now.

Any applicant from any of the four disciplines (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and physician assistant) can apply at any time once their rural rotation is requested.

The CARRS application is now open and will remain open indefinitely with the following submission deadlines:

  • December 31
  • March 31

Available projects are listed by county. Applicants must choose one of the projects when submitting the CARRS application.

Apply online.

*$1,500 participation award administered through third-party vendor upon completion of the program.
