American Red Cross seeking volunteers

The American Red Cross Central Appalachia Region is trying to recruit nurses and health care professionals who are passionate about helping the community by bringing relief, comfort, and hope to those who are in need.

Here are the most urgent needs for the Central Appalachia Region:

• Blood donor ambassador: Assist in greeting, registering, and post donation monitoring of blood donors. Works to ensure a seamless donation process while answering questions the blood donor may have.
• Blood transportation specialist: (Huntington, West Virginia only) Transports blood from collection site to Red Cross laboratory. Once finished at the laboratory transports blood to hospital and picks up empty boxes from the hospital. Delivers supplies to blood collection sites.
• Disaster Health Services (DHS): Help our neighbors who have been affected by disaster, mainly home fires. Meet the health-related needs of those impacted by disasters by providing health assessments, guidance to clients and assistance with replacement of life-saving medications and medical equipment.
