WISH Shine a Light on Faculty Development: Almara Hutchinson
The Working for Impact in Science and Health (WISH) Committee at the West Virginia University Health Sciences Center proudly shines a light on Almara Hutchinson, CCC-SLP, who successfully completed her PhD in Higher Education Administration at the WVU School of Education and Counseling within the College of Applied Human Sciences (CAHS).
Hutchinson is an assistant professor and the coordinator of clinical education for the Speech-Language Pathology program at the School of Medicine.
Under the mentorship of Dissertation Chair Dr. Erin McHenry-Sorber, Hutchinson completed her dissertation titled “The Hidden Process of Student Placements: Perspectives from SLP, OT, and PT Coordinators.” Her research highlights important perspectives on student placement processes within health-related educational programs and contributes meaningful insights to the fields of higher education and health sciences.
In recognition of her outstanding scholarship, leadership and academic achievement, Hutchinson also received the School of Education & Counseling Outstanding Doctoral Student Award during the CAHS Awards Ceremony at West Virginia University.
Hutchinson is the chair-elect of WISH.
