WVU study shows marginalized communities benefit when states permit nurse practitioners to provide primary care
Nurse practitioners from communities of color are generally underrepresented in the workforce. However, a recent study from West Virginia University occupational licensing experts revealed more appropriate racial representation in states permitting full practice authority, or FPA, which entitles NPs to perform all the responsibilities for which they are trained.

WVU online graduate program earns population health management certification
West Virginia University’s Master of Science in Population Health program is now certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education, making it one of five inaugural programs in the country—and the only program in West Virginia—to be CAHME-certified in population health management.
Delta Omega LGBTQ+ and Inclusive Language Virtual Training
This online course through Delta Omega Gamma Mu Honorary Society provides an opportunity for participants to familiarize themselves with current terms and practice using language appropriately to contribute to improving health equity for the LGBTQ+ population, which faces disproportionate health risks. Blood drives planned for Jan. and Feb. at Ruby Memorial Hospital
An American Red Cross blood drive will be hosted Thursday, Jan. 26, from 12-5 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 12-6 p.m. at the WVU Medicine J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital Bruce McClymonds Conference Room for faculty, staff and students.
