Rutgers Psychiatry chair to give presentation at WVU
The WVU Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry will host Grand Rounds at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, in Chestnut Ridge Center Conference Center. Petros Levounis, M.D., will present "The New Neurobiology of Addiction."
Applications being accepted for Academy of Excellence
The Health Sciences Center Faculty Development Program is now accepting applications for the Academy of Excellence in Teaching and Learning. The academy will advance and support the educational mission through innovation, collaboration and scholarship.
HSC Interprofessional Education Speaker Series begins second year with Sept. 9 presentation
Lauri Andress, Ph.D., J.D., will present "Juggling the Dimensions of Food Access and the Impact on Diet and Nutrition: Perceptions of Low-Income Residents in West Virginia." The discussion will cover focus group results from WIC clients and a community-based care project funded by a grant from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation.
WVU scientist appointed to NASA committee
WVU health researcher Michael McCawley, Ph.D., has been selected for membership on the Dust Risk Standing Review Panel for NASA.
Johns Hopkins surgeon-in-chief to present at HSC Sept. 16
The WVU Department of Surgery will host Grand Rounds at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, in room 4080 of Health Sciences North. The 2015 Gordon F. Murray, M.D., Visiting Professor Robert S.D. Higgins, M.D., will present “Surgery for the Next Generation…Generational Change in the Time of Accountability."
WVU Health Sciences Center Bridge Funding Grants revised Aug. 12
The WVU Health Sciences Center Office of Research and Graduate Education announces the availability of Bridge Funding Grants (BFGs) to provide interim research support for investigators whose extramural funding is ending.
Registration deadline for WVCTSI annual meeting and health summit extended
The deadline for registration for the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute (WVCTSI) Annual Meeting and Appalachian Translational Research Network (ATRN) Health Summit has been extended. Participants now have until Tuesday, Sept. 8, to register for the event, which is set for Oct. 14-16 in Charleston.
'Connect with Clay' on Aug. 18

Clinical Trials Research Unit to host open house
The Clinical Trials Research Unit at West Virginia University will host an open house from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, in its new location at the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute. Everyone is invited to attend.
HSC, WVU Medicine employees invited to participate in Heart Walk
The WVU Health Sciences Center and WVU Medicine will once again participate in the American Heart Association’s Greater Morgantown Heart Walk. This year’s event will take place Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Monongalia County Ballpark.
