BRAIN research at WVU awarded $1.5 million
In its first wave of funding awards, a new presidential project aimed at revolutionizing our understanding of the human brain has pledged its support to a group of researchers led by West Virginia University faculty working to change the future of brain imaging. The White House announced that WVU has been awarded more than $1.5 million from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) through the Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative, established by President Barack Obama to accelerate the development and application of innovative imaging technologies.
WVU School of Public Health named HRSA training site to serve West Virginia
The West Virginia University School of Public Health has been named a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) training site in an effort to improve the nation’s public health system.
WVU Nursing’s Dr. Jennifer A. Mallow named one of 12 RWJF Nurse Faculty Scholars for 2014
Jennifer A. Mallow, Ph.D., R.N., an assistant professor at the West Virginia University School of Nursing and research scholar with the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute (WVCTSI), is one of just 12 nursing educators from across the country to win a prestigious grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Nurse Faculty Scholars program this year.
West Virginia public health commissioner to speak at WVU Health Sciences
The West Virginia University School of Public Health’s Public Health Dialogues Speaker Series will resume at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 in Room 1905 of the WVU Health Sciences Center. Letitia E. Tierney, M.D., J.D., public health commissioner and state health officer for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, will present “The State of Health in West Virginia.”
WVU School of Medicine physician elected to national family medicine post
Dana E. King, M.D., chair of the West Virginia University Department of Family Medicine, has been elected to the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG) Board of Directors as secretary/treasurer. Dr. King’s two-year term will start at the group’s fall meeting in November.
