Stamatakis named interim dean of School of Pharmacy
Mary K. Stamatakis, Pharm.D., will serve as interim dean of the WVU School of Pharmacy, effective Saturday, Aug. 1. She was appointed to the position by Clay Marsh, M.D., vice president and executive dean of health sciences, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of long-time Dean Patricia Chase, Ph.D.
Ramadan named chair of Otolaryngology
Hassan H. Ramadan, M.D., M.Sc., has been named professor and chair of the Department of Otolaryngology at the West Virginia University School of Medicine, according to Clay Marsh, M.D., vice president and executive dean of health sciences. Dr. Ramadan currently serves as professor, program director and vice chair of the Department of Otolaryngology.
WVU announces biomedical engineering grant awardees
The winners, which include faculty from the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and the Health Sciences Center, are being funded through the Byars-Tarnay Endowment in the WVU Foundation. The endowment was established to build biomedical engineering programs for the Statler College with the School of Medicine.
Clay Marsh honors third annual VP Achievement Award winners
Awardees were recognized by their peers for their outstanding accomplishments at the WVU Health Sciences Center. A total of 11 awards, honoring faculty and staff, went to individuals and one team.

Recently, 13 medical students, two resident medical students and two faculty members were inducted into GHHS, an organization that recognizes individuals for practicing patient-centered medical care by modeling these attributes.

The WVU School of Public Health is partnering with BOPARC to conduct a “Paws and Claws” tick check from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 27. The event will occur at Krepps Park in Suncrest and Stanley Spot Dog Park, which is located downtown.

Nield named assistant dean for admissions in School of Medicine’s medical degree program
Linda S. Nield, M.D., has been named assistant dean for admissions in the School of Medicine’s medical degree program. She is professor of pediatrics and currently serves as the director of the pediatrics residency program.
