WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities names interim director
Lesley Cottrell, Ph.D. professor and vice chair of research in the West Virginia University School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics has agreed to serve as the interim director of the WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities (CED).

I had the honor of attending the program in Charleston headed by President Barack Obama and native West Virginian Sylvia Matthews Burwell, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, last week. West Virginians and the President discussed the issue of opioid drug dependence and the unacceptable – and avoidable -- death rate from overdoses. Drug overdoses now are the leading cause of accidental death in America, accounting for more deaths than car accidents.
Lions' gift advances research at WVU Eye Institute
The West Virginia Lions Sight Conservation Foundation and the Lions Club International Foundation recently provided a $289,502 grant to the West Virginia University Eye Institute’s Vision Research Center.
