WVU nursing students head to camp
Summer camps are in full swing around West Virginia, and West Virginia University School of Nursing students are taking their knowledge and skills to provide volunteer services for children attending Camp Kno-Koma and the 2017 National Boy Scouts of America Jamboree.

The U.S. State Department has added S. Suresh Madhavan, Ph.D., of the WVU School of Pharmacy to Fulbright Specialist Roster for the next three years.
Town hall to focus on critical care and trauma

WVU School of Public Health welcomes new faculty and department chair
The West Virginia University School of Public Health welcomes three new faculty members this month, including a new department chair. School of Public Health Dean Jeffrey Coben says the new faculty members will open doors to new collaborations for both faculty and students. “By bringing on high-caliber faculty members like Drs. Huzurbazar, Bhandari and Allen, we will continue to provide our students access to seasoned practitioners, researchers and experts for a balanced public health education and to build on the important work we are doing for the state’s citizens.”
Leukemia Research Foundation supports cancer research at WVU
The Leukemia Research Foundation has awarded $100,000 to Wei Du, M.D., Ph.D., of the West Virginia University Cancer Institute to investigate a method for increasing the effectiveness of stem cell transplantation.
WVU School of Nursing dean re-appointed to state nursing board
West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice has re-appointed Dr. Tara Hulsey, dean of the West Virginia University School of Nursing, to a five-year term on the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses. Hulsey also was re-elected president of the Board.

Former Miss Colorado, nurse to speak at WVU
Former Miss Colorado Kelley Johnson made headlines for her powerful monologue in the 2016 Miss America pageant. Ms. Johnson, a registered nurse, will be presenting, “I’m More Than Just a Nurse” on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Erickson Alumni Center in Morgantown, West Virginia.
