Rainelle project offers hope to people overcoming addiction
Seeds of Recovery, in Rainelle, West Virginia, offers a training program to men and women in the West Virginia drug court system who are overcoming addiction. “Seeds of Recovery is often the last chance for our students to do something—meaning if they don’t, the alternative could be jail time,” said Elizabeth Reynolds, West Virginia University Extension Service Nutrition Outreach Instructor.

Cancer Institute’s Cancer Prevention and Control wins first place ribbons
Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) program staff won two first place ribbons at the 2017 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Cancer Conference in Atlanta this August. They were invited to present three posters for the overall National conference and an oral presentation for the CDC Colorectal Cancer Control Program Meeting. Next month, the WVU School of Public Health and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) will co-host a series of events focusing on aging, elder abuse and public health policy. Two separate lectures will feature Dr. Pamela B. Teaster, Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America and the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education, followed by OLLI’s annual fall open house event.

WVU School of Dentistry class of 2021 arrives
The West Virginia University School of Dentistry welcomed 50 new students this week who will work over the next four years to become dentists. The dental class of 2021 gathered at an annual professionalism assembly Aug. 11.
