CANCELED: COVID-19 expert to speak at West Virginia University
Lawrence O. Gostin, professor of medicine at Georgetown University and director of the World Health Organization’s Collaborating Center on National and Global Health Law, will present “COVID-19: A Global and National Emergency” as part of the School of Public Health’s Dean's Colloquium Series on Friday, March 27, from noon to 1 p.m. in 1909 Health Sciences Center North, with a pre-event reception from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the Fukushima lobby. The event, which helps kick off Research Week, is free and open to the public.
Printer toner linked to genetic changes, health risks in new study
According to a new study by West Virginia University researcher Nancy Lan Guo, the microscopic toner nanoparticles that waft from laser printers may change our genetic and metabolic profiles in ways that make disease more likely. Her findings appear in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences.
WVU student pharmacists compete in national competition to raise awareness about critical public health issue
During February and March, students at the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy are competing in the 2020 Medication Adherence Team Challenge — a two-month interdisciplinary competition between student health professionals across the country to help raise awareness about the importance of medication adherence.
