WVU students lead gender inclusivity, anti-racism training

West Virginia University students have led a training initiative through WVU’s LGBTQ+ Center to raise awareness of the intersections of race, color, sex, sexual orientation and gender identity. The trainings, which will continue, cover the history of racism and systemic discrimination; LGBTQ+ history and lessons from the civil rights movement; complexity of identity based on race/ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity; strategies for developing a cross-racial dialogue; and resources for intervening in bias, harassment and discrimination.

Out of more than 6.8 million doses administered in the U.S., six reported cases of a rare and severe blood clot in individuals who have received the J&J vaccine are being monitored.

WVU in the News: HIV Is On the Loose in West Virginia, and So Is a Moral Panic About Needle Exchanges

In addition to clean syringes, the programs typically offer medical care, screening for HIV and hepatitis C, and information on how to access drug treatment. But for the opponents of such programs, reducing harm means enabling drug use. In a recent article, Associate Professor Robin Pollini, PhD, MPH, discusses the surge of an HIV outbreak in West Virginia. Read the full story from Mother Jones.
