Dr. Michael Edmond named CMO for WVU Health System
The West Virginia University Health System and the West Virginia University School of Medicine’s affiliated practice plan, University Health Associates, announced the appointment of Michael B. Edmond, MD, MPH, MPA, MBA., as the WVU Health System’s new chief medical officer, the chief executive of University Health Associates, and the vice dean for clinical affairs and chief medical officer of WVU Hospitals. Dr. Edmond will join WVU Medicine in November.
Jacobson elected future chair of the American Society for Radiation Oncology
Geraldine Jacobson, M.D., MPH, MBA, FACR, FASTRO, has been declared president-elect for the American Society for Radiation Oncology’s board of directors. Starting in October, she’ll serve in that role for one year, then serve as president the year following.

Parking, shuttle service modified as employees and students return
As students, faculty, and staff return to campus for the fall semester, the Research Park parking lot will remain open. Linda Nield, M.D., professor, associate dean for Admissions, and co-director of the Pediatrics Rural Scholars Program, has been appointed to become the new editor of the West Virginia Medical Journal (WVMJ), the official journal of the West Virginia State Medical Association.
