NIH Medical Research Scholars Program Overview

Join WVCTSI and the WVU School of Medicine for a special presentation on the National Institutes of Health Medical Research Scholars Program (MRSP). on December 8. Thomas Burklow, MD, FAAP, FACC, director of the NIH MRSP will present an overview of this year long research immersion program. Following Dr. Burklow's presentation, attendees will have the chance to hear from Sundus Lateef, WVU medical student and first West Virginian selected for the MRSP.

WVU Medicine Children’s helps family access critical gene therapy

When Brittany and Chris Nix, of Fort Gay, had their son, Oliver, they didn’t expect him to be born with a disease that would prevent him from being able to walk, eat, or breathe. Thanks to a routine test given to all babies in West Virginia and 17 other states and a life-saving treatment given at WVU Medicine Children’s, Oliver has a better chance to live a normal life.

Department of Family Medicine begins search for new chair

Dana E. King, M.D., M.S, professor and chair of the Department of Family Medicine, will retire from his role, effective June 30, 2021. King, who has served as chair since 2012, plans to remain active in clinical and academic work with the School.
