HSC Students that have completed rotation: A Chance to win $500
Students: Have you completed a rotation? Would you like a chance to win $500? Dear WVU Health Profession Student, Would you like to quadruple your chances at winning $500? The WV Area Health Education Center (WV AHEC) under the leadership of Sandra Pope, MSW requests that you complete a free, online WV AHEC Enhanced Learning Opportunity Module prior to or after completing your community-based rotation. There are six topics. With the completion of just one topic unit and the post-rotation survey, your name will be entered four times in a drawing to win $500. These enhanced units allow for a more in-depth understanding of core values found in the AHEC program and take approximately 45 minutes to complete. You will be sent instructions to complete the survey following the completion of your rotation.

WVU SOM Charleston Campus Gold Humanism Honor Society Welcomes New Members
(Charleston, W. Va.) – WVU School of Medicine Charleston Campus chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) is proud to welcome Beth Bloom Emrick, MD, FAAP an assistant professor of pediatrics at West Virginia University’s Charleston Campus. Dr. Emrick was chosen for this distinction by WVU School of Medicine peers and faculty, and is welcomed by Dr. Norman Ferrari, WVU’s GHHS faculty advisor, in recognition of her exemplary competence, compassion and model of humanism in medicine. She will be joined by new 2021 GHHS WVU-Charleston third year medical students Paige McCaleb, Katie Robinson and Kate Webster.

2021 Coach Bob Huggins Fish Fry
The annual Bob Huggins Fish Fry supports both the Norma Mae Huggins Endowment at the WVU Cancer Institute and Remember the Miners’ flagship scholars program. Each year, nearly 1,500 fans and friends gather to enjoy good company, great eats, and to support these worthy causes. To ensure this support does not waiver in 2021, and in keeping with COVID guidelines, the in-person event has been shifted to a cutting-edge virtual experience. Join us online for an entertaining evening, complete with special presentations, auctions, and exclusive commentary. The star-studded special guest lineup includes Founder and President of Barstool Sports Dave Portnoy, ESPN analyst Fran Fraschilla, WVU great Da’Sean Butler and many others to be announced!
Safety precautions ahead of the Inauguration Day Period
As the country prepares for the upcoming presidential inauguration and following the recent events that occurred at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, it’s important for the WVU community to be informed and aware of the resources that are available on campus.
WVU Occupational Medicine Residency Program reaccredited
The West Virginia University School of Public Health Occupational Medicine residency program has been reaccredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, making it one of 23 accredited programs in the nation. WVU’s program is the only one of its kind in the Appalachian region.
Jazzmans at Cavanaugh’s to open Jan. 25 at Health Sciences
WVU Dining Services is wrapping up renovations on Cavanaugh’s coffee shop at the Health Sciences and will reopen as Jazzmans at Cavanaugh’s Jan. 25.
Health Sciences photography studio closed until further notice
WVU Photography Services will not be scheduling portrait shoots at the Health Sciences studio for the foreseeable future due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the limited space availability at the studio.
