Dear fellow alumni and friends of the School of Dentistry,
Third-year dental students present cases at national oral medicine conference
The curriculum at West Virginia University School of Dentistry includes an emphasis oral medicine through courses like oral microbiology and radiology, research, and principles of medicine. And over the past several years, students and faculty have had a presence at the AAOM’s annual conference invigorating their mission to promote overall wellness through dentistry.
Submit WISH Award nominations through May 31
The Women in Science & Health (WISH) Committee is accepting nominations now through May 31 for the annual WISH Awards.
HSC ITS website to be redirected to updated IT Help Center
Information Technology Services will decommission the former Health Sciences ITS website on Sunday, May 19, shifting content that remains current and relevant into the updated IT Help Center at it.wvu.edu/help.
Scholarships available to cover tobacco treatment training program fee
The West Virginia University School of Dentistry is offering scholarhsips for an online, self paced continuing education opportunity for participants hoping to become a certified tobacco treatment specialists.
Dental and medical professionals unite to promote oral healthcare
West Virginia University School of Dentistry students and faculty were invited to participate in the March Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Rural Community Health Scholars Interprofessional Student Immersion event in Greenbrier County.

The top three 2024 studies have been announced in the West Virginia University School of Dentistry annual student research competition.
Dental school alumna writes word of thanks to students and faculty
Dr. Maggie Conde (Class of 2020), of Conde Family Dental, trained in rural oral health care and is a provider in rural Upshur County. On a mission trip to Guatemala, with West Virginia University School of Dentistry students and faculty, she was among the providers to offer treatment in rural Antigua. The mission trip, organized by Hands for Hearts, resulted in hundreds of needed procedures for children and adults. You can read an online perspective from students and faculty.

Encourage health professions students to apply for Rural Community Health Scholars program
This two-year program is available to 75 of West Virginia’s top health professions students interested in rural health care across the state.
