Participants will meet in front of Milan Puskar Stadium at 1 p.m. and walk one of the walking loops near the hospital (loop still to be determined). Walk/run/cycle/roll can also be completed individually.

To register for the event, go to https://runsignup.com/RaceGroups/105296/Groups/1256924 and click Join Trauma Center Team.

The event is being held in conjunction with National Trauma Awareness Month, which is held annually in May. During the month, the American Trauma Society and Trauma Survivors Network hold a virtual 5K/1-mile walk/run/cycle/roll event called Race to Rebuild to support trauma survivors as they survive, connect, and rebuild their lives after their traumatic event.

The Mountaineer Trauma Support Group was created in 2019 to allow patients and families the opportunity to connect and receive support from others who have sustained a traumatic event. During the group’s monthly meetings, trauma survivors and their family members can share their experiences, learn how to adjust to changes in their lives, and find peer support.

The meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month in the fourth floor conference room at the Physician Office Center on WVU Medicine’s Morgantown campus. The meetings are also offered virtually through Microsoft Teams.
