Friends of WVU Hospitals holds second annual golf tournament

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Friends of WVU Hospitals held its annual golf tournament on Sept. 13 at the Pines Country Club.

“The Second Annual Friends of WVU Hospitals Golf Tournament was a big success, raising $22,000 to support our mission and good work,” Adrienne Davis, president of the Friends of WVU Hospitals, said. “I would like to extend a big thank you to our sponsors, golfers, and volunteers. We are looking forward to seeing everyone next year at our third annual event.”

The tournament brought together volunteers from the community, vendors, administrators, and employees of WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital and WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital

The Friends of WVU Hospitals auxiliary coordinates with WVU Medicine to operate the Friends of WVU Hospitals Gift Shop located at Ruby Memorial Hospital and the WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital Gift Shop. Proceeds from sales support programs at Rosenbaum Family House and the WVU Cancer Institute Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, patient activities and supplies, and Hospital department requests.

The auxiliary supports special events like the WVU Medicine Children’s Gala in Morgantown, the WVU Cancer Institute’s Pink Party, the Rosenbaum Family House Run Santa Run 5K, and the WVU Medicine Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center Night of Recognition

Friends of WVU Hospitals has donated more than $2 million to programming since its beginning in 1961.

“We are grateful to the players, vendors, volunteers, and staff who participated in this year’s golf tournament,” Michael Grace, Ed.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.H.E., president of WVU Hospitals, said. “Our volunteers are a vital part of our operation, and their impact on our patients – from day-to-day interactions to financial support – is immeasurable.”  

The 2024 golf tournament will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the Pines Country Club.
