WVU School of Nursing raises more than $1.3 million during WVU Day of Giving 2025

Thanks to the generosity of 120 gifts during WVU Day of Giving 2025, the WVU School of Nursing raised more than $1.3 million — the seventh largest total of any department across the WVU system.

“We are so grateful for everyone who showed their support to the WVU School of Nursing on this year’s Day of Giving,” said Dr. Tara Hulsey, Dean and E. Jane Martin Endowed Professor. “Your gifts will support nursing scholarships and academic assistance for our students, as well as nurse-led access to care points throughout the state with our Faith Community Nursing efforts.”

The WVU School of Nursing unlocked two special challenges throughout the day, the Grow by Degrees Challenge and the Nursing Unrestricted Scholarship Challenge. After 50 gifts were received respectively, an additional $25,000 in funding was awarded for each challenge.

“I am so thankful to our donors who give for the Day of Giving and throughout the year,” said Dr. Kimberly Colebank, Director of Development. “The financial support creates opportunities that would not be possible without these generous gifts to the School of Nursing.”

Among WVU Nursing’s top priorities for Day of Giving were student scholarships, Dean’s Fund, peer tutoring, Faith Community Nursing, and the Student Ambassador Fund.

Supporters of West Virginia University donated a record $46.2 million on March 26 during the University’s eighth Day of Giving. More than 10,300 gifts were made during the 24-hour online fundraising event held across the University system, also a record. The $46.2 million figure tops 2024’s WVU Day of Giving record of $30.4 million raised from over 8,500 gifts.
