WVU School of Nursing offers solutions to growing nationwide nursing faculty shortages

The nursing workforce shortage is well-known across the nation; however, the nursing faculty shortage is a lesser-known part of the equation. Advanced faculty age, a wave of retirements and too few nurses pursuing advanced nursing degrees are among the top factors contributing to the faculty shortage. WVU School of Nursing Dean Tara Hulsey says obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is one of the first steps in combatting the shortage.

Exercise physiology student interns with the US Department of the Navy, conducts research

Olivia Whittington, a graduate student in the Master of Science in Exercise Physiology program at the WVU School of Medicine, spent her summer conducting cutting-edge research at the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory in Groton, Connecticut. She was one of only four college students chosen for her specific lab within the competitive Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program.
