Salary adjustment to offset PEIA increases
Reminder: As previously shared via Mountaineer E-News on July 13, WVU is adjusting base salaries for employees who carry PEIA health benefits. This adjustment was effective on August 13, and eligible employees will see that adjustment reflected in their September 8th pay statement.

West Virginia University Chief Health Officer Dr. Clay Marsh said that the variant EG.5 is now the most common form of COVID-19 in the nation and on the upswing in West Virginia. In a Wednesday media briefing with Gov. Jim Justice, Marsh said the variant is not more severe, but more evasive to the immune system.

STEPS to provide training during Healthcare Simulation Week, Sept. 18-22
The West Virginia University David and Jo Ann Shaw Center for Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety (STEPS) will host Healthcare Simulation Week Monday, Sept. 18 through Friday, Sept. 22.

Nikky Luna, director of marketing and communications, has accepted an offer from The American Pops Orchestra, a DC-based non-profit. Her last day with the School of Public Health will be August 23.
Provost’s Office to hold Academic Transformation appeal process support sessions
The Provost’s Office will hold virtual appeal process support sessions for deans, directors, chairs and faculty who would like to discuss the program review appeal process tomorrow (Aug. 15) and Monday, Aug. 21.

SPH Academic Day for undergraduates set for tomorrow (Aug. 15)
Tomorrow, Aug. 15, the School of Public Health will host Academic Day for its new incoming undergraduate students. From meeting SPH team members and fellow classmates to touring the WVU Health Sciences Center, this event will help them get set on the right path as they embark on the first steps of their college journey. If you see any of these new faces around the Health Sciences Center, please be sure to welcome them to the SPH!
WVU announces preliminary recommendations, Academic Transformation next steps
After several months of review that included input from deans, department chairs, faculty and others, West Virginia University has made preliminary recommendations to adjust its academic offerings to better serve the needs of its students.
