Touching Lives through Nursing

The nursing profession had its beginnings more than 160 years ago when the well-educated daughter of affluent British parents, Florence Nightingale, challenged the social conventions of her day and chose to become a nurse because she was passionate about improving the care of sick patients. That same passion continues with today’s nurses.

Under the Dome: February 21, 2022 Edition

Under the Dome delivers a review of the issues being considered by the West Virginia Legislature. It provides information on matters that affect WVU and higher education, as well as other hot topics being addressed. This edition provides an update on many bills and activities happening in Charleston, as the Legislature enters the final three weeks of its 60-day work with more than 2,100 bills introduced this year.

Virtual Mental Health First Aid training available

West Virginia University’s Health Sciences Center is sponsoring an online Mental Health First Aid training on March 4. This session is open to all WVU-affiliated faculty, staff or students from any of the University’s campuses. This training is free.

WVU undergraduate researchers showcase work for lawmakers in Charleston

Undergraduate researchers from West Virginia University showcased their work at the State Capitol in Charleston Friday (Feb. 18), giving lawmakers a glimpse of the work they do in disease-carrying insects, the weather’s effect on renewable energy resources and the economic potential of petunias—just a few of the topics addressed by 49 presenters from WVU’s Morgantown and Beckley campuses.

High Fives! at the School of Nursing / Feb. 14-18

Whether it's a small act of kindness or a grand gesture, the WVU School of Nursing wants to acknowledge the impact of our community members. Students, faculty and staff are invited to give a shoutout or a "virtual high five" to someone at WVU SON.

Kesem at WVU looking for camp counselors

Kesem @ WVU is currently recruiting counselors for its 2022 summer camp. The student-led organization is dedicated to providing support to children affected by a guardian's cancer. Children affected can attend a free week-long summer camp which to provides a fun, activity-filled week that allows the kids to be kids. This year's summer camp will be held June 6-10 at Emma Kaufmann Camp.
