Virtual Mindful Steps series begins in September
Fall Mindful Steps sessions will take place every Thursday at noon on Zoom beginning Sept. 12.
VIDEO: Nursing faculty discuss innovative Clinical Assistant Program to support student curriculum
WVU School of Nursing faculty members discuss the Clinical Assistant (CA) program, formed during the COVID-19 pandemic, which pairs sophomore students with senior leadership students for a clinical assistant day. Curriculum is enhanced for both groups, as sophomores can learn from their peers, while the seniors can reinforce their knowledge and skillset. Students are also exposed to the role of the nurse educator, which can establish a pipeline for future educational and career opportunities.

SOLE and SOLE-related applications will be unavailable 8:30-9 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 11, for important maintenance. There will be no noticeable changes in features or functionality when this work is complete.
WVU in the News: Princeton nurse launches faith-based screening and outreach program
Mercer County registered nurse Tera Dillow has launched a new health screening and outreach program within Princeton’s Johnston Chapel Baptist Church community. Dillow brings 25 years of experience having lived and worked in the Mercer County area and has completed the West Virginia University School of Nursing’s Foundations in Faith Community Nursing Course as a means of additionally reinforcing her abilities and capacity for effective outreach.
WVU School of Nursing again ranks as top RN program in West Virginia
The WVU School of Nursing has been named as the 2024 Best RN Program in West Virginia by RegisteredNursing.org. This marks the second year in a row for the recognition.
WVU School of Medicine Charleston Campus names Campbell associate vice president and dean
The West Virginia University School of Medicine Charleston Campus named James Campbell, M.D., FACP, as the associate vice president and dean, effective August 1.
WVU School of Nursing graduate finds her passion while fighting cancer
Elvera Jenkins created a beautiful moment during the May 2024 graduation ceremony when she walked with her daughter across the stage. Her journey to that moment is inspirational, as she has battled cancer since November 2020. After her treatment, she worked at Ruby Memorial Hospital, where every day she would pass through the cancer center: “I felt like it was calling my name,” Jenkins said. “I felt like it wanted me to do something.”
Simulation Certificate Program to be offered in October
The WVU School of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Information in collaboration with the David and Jo Ann Shaw Center for Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety (STEPS) will offer the three-day immersive Simulation Certificate Program Oct. 2-4 for instructors with interest in quality teaching with simulation.

BeWell, a satellite office of the West Virginia University Carruth Center, will welcome a new clinical trainee this fall.
17th annual Heather Miller Golf Tournament continues making a difference
The 17th annual Heather Miller Golf Tournament was recently held at Oglebay Crispin Golf Center. The golf tournament is a fundraiser for the Heather Miller Scholarship Foundation. It honors Heather Miller, a WVU School of Nursing student who died in a 2008 car crash.
