Marking Year One: Teaching Scholars Continue Their Journey

The WVU Health Sciences Center is pleased to recognize the completion of the first year of the Longitudinal Teaching Scholars Program for the 2025–2027 cohort. This year’s cohort included 25 participants from across the health professions; all committed to strengthening their skills as educators.

Over the past year, participants engaged in a series of in-person modules designed to enhance teaching effectiveness in clinical and academic settings. Sessions focused on key areas such as educational theory, instructional strategies, assessment and feedback, curriculum design and an introduction to educational research. Through a blend of expert-led sessions, interactive workshops and collaborative learning, scholars gained practical tools to support learner success.

As the program continues into its second year, participants will shift their focus toward educational research and scholarship, developing and implementing projects in health professions education with mentorship from experienced faculty. This phase will culminate in project completion and graduation in June 2027.

We congratulate this year’s cohort on reaching this important milestone and look forward to their continued growth and contributions in the year ahead.
