Occupational Medicine residents attend symposium at Deere and Company World Headquarters

The School of Public Health Occupational Medicine residents attended a conference at the Deere and Company World Headquarters from August 13 to August 16. They were joined by Occupational Medicine residents from University of Iowa and University of Illinois at Chicago.

The groups toured the John Deere Foundry in Waterloo, IA, and visited the Tractor Cab Assembly Operations (TCAO) Facility, Harvester Works Factory, John Deere Aviation Facility, John Deere Occupational Medicine Clinics and World Headquarters in Moline, IL.

In between tours, residents participated in didactic sessions discussing musculoskeletal issues and safety and health issues, participated in a Q&A session with industrial hygienists, and met with International Travel Health operations.

John Deere has offices and facilities in more than 30 countries. This is the fourth symposium hosted by WVU’s former Occupational Medicine Residency Advisory Committee Chairman Dr. David Deeter, who now serves as the Medical Director for Deere & Company.
