Journal Club seeks to raise awareness for advanced illness care

West Virginia University’s Health Sciences Center faculty will administer a monthly Journal Club directed towards advanced illness care.

The Journal Club will critically evaluate articles of academic, scientific, clinical, medical and philosophical literature. Articles discussed during meetings will focus on hospice, palliative care, and post-acute care. Each meeting will focus on a new article that will be posted in advance.

“We are excited to take a new step to build interest and awareness of advanced illness care and the concept of “care beyond cure” by starting a Journal Club,” said Malene Davis, RN, MBA MSN CHPN.

The Journal Club will meet from noon to 1 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month. Meetings for the Journal Club will be held in HSC South G288E, Chill Pod 3 at The Market. A light lunch is provided for those who attend.
