Outstanding Achievement in Local or Regional Service
This award honors faculty for outstanding achievement in advancing the service mission of WVU Health Sciences at the local or regional level.
Criteria for Selection
- Significant involvement, as a WVU representative, in local or regional service related to the nominee’s professional area
- Leadership roles in professional service
- Excellence in contributions of service to the department, college or university
- Creation of new opportunities for students to combine learning and service (e.g., service learning courses, internships, master’s thesis and participation in civic improvement or citizen action projects)
- Positive outcomes from involvement in the nominee’s community service work
- Creation of new research and consultation opportunities for faculty related to professional service
- Evidence of positive outcomes from professional service activities
- Contributes to a positive culture within their unit
Required Materials in Support of Nomination
- Nomination letter (two-page limit)
- Abridged CV, including relevant service details (five-page limit)
- A letter of support from a colleague or community member
- Supplemental evidence documenting positive impact of service (five-page limit)
- At least one example of how the nominee meets the criterion "contributes to a positive culture within their unit"
Suggested Materials in Support of Nomination
- A maximum of two additional letters of support from colleagues, students or community members
