Drinking, drug use and driving increased in West Virginia during COVID-19, WVU study finds
One West Virginia trauma center saw an uptick in alcohol and drug use by patients treated for motor vehicle collision injuries during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a West Virginia University study led by Toni Marie Rudisill, assistant professor in the WVU School of Public Health. More specifically, researchers found patients were using a greater number of drugs, including cannabinoids, opioids and stimulants during the pandemic than prior to its onset.
University clothing drive to support middle school students
The WVU Women’s Resource Center, Center for Community Engagement and Health Sciences Diversity, Equity and Inclusion unit are teaming up to hold a month-long clothing drive through March to collect women’s and men’s clothing items.
