Steam outage scheduled for Oct. 9–10
WVU’s steam provider, Vicinity, will conduct a planned steam outage beginning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, through 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, to make necessary repairs on their distribution system.
Virtual Mindful Steps series begins Oct. 2
Mindful Steps Part 1 is a six-week intermediate class that is designed to assist in developing and maintaining mindful resilience, mental fitness and relaxation. Participants are invited to attend up to six one-hour sessions that offer a variety of simple yet practical tools to be mindful in daily living. The class is on Thursdays from Oct. 2 to Nov. 6 from noon to 1 p.m. on Zoom.
Ivanoff inducted into International College of Dentists
West Virginia University School of Dentistry faculty member Chris Ivanoff, DDS, has been awarded fellowship in the International College of Dentists.
Junior nursing students explore roles, skills in the emergency department
To explore potential pathways in nursing, juniors at the WVU School of Nursing recently toured the emergency department at WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. They also got an up-close look at helipad and the helicopters used for emergency air medical transportation.
Operation Blue Sky at Health Sciences to host events during WVU Week of Purpose
WVU’s fourth Week of Purpose will take place Monday, Sept. 22 through Friday, Sept. 26. Students, faculty and staff are invited to enjoy a variety of events and take this opportunity for self-exploration, learning new perspectives and engaging with others as we continue this purposeful journey together.

When dental professionals from across the state gathered for the annual West Virginia Oral Health Summit, students from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry were on hand to facilitate breakout sessions covering important topics for improved oral health.
