WVU Medicine updates visitation guidelines, procedures at Morgantown campus

Beginning today (Monday, June 15), new visitation guidelines and procedures will go into effect on the WVU Medicine Morgantown campus.

All visitors need to be masked at ALL times and will be screened upon entering the facility, and visitation is not permitted for patients who are COVID-19 positive or COVID-19 persons under investigation (PUI). Anyone who has screened positive for COVID-19 will not be permitted access as a visitor.

All visitors will receive a visitor-specific, color-coded ID badge to reflect the level of visitation access. Approved visitors for inpatient locations will be confirmed at Welcome Desk. Visitors are to stay in the patient room at all times and not travel to common areas, such as the cafeteria or gift shop.

Visitors for Ruby and Children’s inpatient/peri-operative/procedural/diagnostic must enter at Ruby Main or Heart and Vascular Institute entrance.

Exceptions to visitation will be made based on patient condition and will be made on a case-by-case basis by the department leader and/or house supervisor. Exceptions include but are not limited to deaf/blind patients, low mental capacity, significant mobility limitations, critical conversations (goals of care), and end of life.
